The Tea Kiosk now reflects the history of Hanmer, with a modern twist.
Creating a brand around a building
The Tea Kiosk Café & Grill, situated within the Hanmer Springs Thermal Pools & Spa complex, is based in the old Government tea kiosk building that originally opened in 1904.
To allow the building to live up to its full potential and fit in with the wider brand, the existing café was in need of an update. Our challenge was to give the café and bar a modern makeover, while still paying homage to the history of the area and age of the building. We came up with the name and logo, and set guidelines for the overall look and feel of the revamped space. The logo, designed for use both within the café and on promotional material, has a clean, modern feel, and the type and line work stylistically link back to the era when the building was first constructed. We also included a more compact logo that can be used as decoration, stamps, or branding on café items such as napkins.
The result of our work was a timeless design, that fits in with the village and overall Hanmer brand while also reflecting the simple rustic food served at Tea Kiosk.
